Kink So Real: Mistress Amazon Reinvented and Other Stories Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

Kink So Real: Mistress Amazon Reinvented and Other Stories is the sequel to Amazon Hammer, Gloria's award-winning novel about the life of "Mistress Amazon," a successful professional dominatrix, and how she evolved from a teenage weirdo to a world-famous pro-domme. In Kink So Real, we meet Amazon (real name Jax) over a decade after she gave up working professionally and shifted her focus to her personal life and relationships. Now a wife and mother, Jax has formed a chosen family of diverse kinky people and dedicates herself to helping each member deal with their journeys through BDSM and the catastrophe known as COVID.
The book is built on the love stories of different members of Jax's chosen family, their struggles and their unity in creating a strong foundation for their unconventional choices. Straight, gay, bi, queer, poly, trans and nonbinary, the family is an intentional community of adults who have found true kinship that sustains them through the worst -- and best -- of times together. Each story explores the complexities of the kinky lifestyle and its extraordinary diversity. From persuading her husband to work as a professional male dom to helping him break out of his artistic slump to ensuring the three elders in the family expand their horizons by choosing a permanent home, the book is packed with in-depth and touching stories of how they all built a vision of pride and devotion through their love for one another.
Readers of the first two books in this series --
Champions of Pleasure and Amazon Hammer -- will recognize and rejoice to see characters they already know in a new and more beautiful light than ever before.

I have been a fan of Gloria Brame since I discovered her. I love all her books and this one is no exception! No matter if they are kink-factual or kink-fiction, Gloria knows how to do this, and excels at writing and sharing her knowledge of kink-in general. My fave in this particular one is a dom-ABDL story-yay! She knows what the hell Women she’s talking about! I highly recommend getting this book and reading it ASAP! Subject knowledge and writing ability are power, and Gloria has both in spades. Powerful!!

Gloria Brame’s Kink So Real is a refreshing take on BDSM relationships, bringing an authenticity and grittiness to her characters that’s rare in the genre. It's not erotica posing as literature, it's literature first that is wrought through with BDSM as we get a realistic journey into the dynamics of a long-term BDSM triad. I'll talk about Chapter 2 as an example. We get a glimpse into the daily lives of Gigi, Leon, and Milli as they live their extraordinary lives. Gigi, the seasoned dominant of the triad, is wonderfully complex—strict yet loving, commanding but also vulnerable as she adapts to the realities of aging. From playful discipline over a hidden marijuana bud to their decision to leave New York City for a more open life in Denver, each scene just rang true to me.

What makes Kink So Real stand out is its commitment to portraying BDSM relationships with grit and respect. The characters face the same challenges as any long-term partnership, while also navigating the added layers of a power exchange dynamic. This book is an engaging, real portrayal of love, partnership, and power, and at the same time is almost educational and emotionally fulfilling and, yes, erotic at times.

For readers looking for a realistic, nuanced depiction of BDSM that doesn’t shy away from the complexities, Kink So Real is a must-read. Brame’s characters feel like real people, flawed and gritty yet deeply connected, and their journey is as touching as it is eye-opening. Truly one of her best works of fiction.
