AUGUSTA and Skowhegan - George Adrian Roderick, 83, of Augusta and formerly of Skowhegan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2016, in Farmington. He was born on Oct. 21, 1932, in Skowhegan, the son of George Everett and Anita (Labonte) Roderick. He graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1950.

After graduation he worked for Norrwock Shoe Company for several years. He moved to Augusta in 1966 where he worked in food service for 21 years. After that he worked for the Department of Human Services in the Division of Child Support Enforcement for several years, retiring in 1993.

George served for many years on the board of directors for the Maine Center for the Blind, and for two years as president. He also served for many years on the executive board of Maine Fraternal Association and also served as president for two years.

He is survived by his sister, Doris Day of Houlton; five nephews; and friend Gloria Gordon of Strong.

He was predeceased by his parents, his niece Patricia Ellis, and a brother in-law, Walter Day.

Burial to be at the Calvary Cemetery in Skowhegan. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.
