About the author

I have always had a knack for languages; I fluently speak Haitian Creole, French, English, and Spanish, and I can get by in German and Slovak. However, I am rusty in these last two because of a lack of practice.
My journey started in Haiti, where I spent my childhood before moving to Paris for higher education. I graduated from Sorbonne Nouvelle University, holding a degree in English and American Literature and History. In 2001, I became a certified secondary school teacher in England after completing the PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) at the University of Southampton. I have a passion for reading and writing fiction and nonfiction.
My first book was inspired by my experiences as an educator, exploring the complexities of teaching and learning.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2024Teachers not only have the answer, they ARE the answer. This author does a deep dive into all things teaching and an excellent one at that! I especially liked his Bibliography and how easy it is to click on the sources when using kindle. It is a golden opportunity to hear firsthand what Nelson Mandela has to say about the importance of education and much more. Exhaustive research, excellent sharing, and encouraging for all of us learners and teachers and educators and lovers of life, liberty and happiness through sitting in the classroom of teachers who care. Well done! Highly recommend. Thank you teacher of teachers.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2024Renes Lophanor takes us from his modest beginnings in Port Au Prince through his live and education as a teacher. A committed teacher, with significant depth of experience in education and having taught thousands of students over his many years of experience. His true desire for children to be given the freedom of expression and support to encourage their creativity and their boundless imagination, lacking the restrictions and biases we develop as adults. This book is a wonderful testament to the beauty of teaching and the resilience to continue despite "having all the reasons in the world to quit." This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in learning how child development and learning are so important to continue improving.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2024“I Still Love Teaching Despite Having All The Reasons In The World To quit” is a must-read for educators and parents; The writer guides you through the complexity and the art of teaching. This is like a “saga” of a passionate educator who has chosen to fully live his gift to be in harmony with himself.
During my reading, I reviewed all the difficulties I encountered and how easier it would have been for me if I had had this kind of soul as a teacher or a coach. Without a shadow of doubt, I would have gotten a way better outcome.
All the examples he attached to his explanations make you comprehend how important it is not to be only a teacher, but also a big brother, a friend that will show you the best and most efficient way to reach your goals.
For someone who greatly struggled as a student, I can say that this book is a tool that should be a guideline in the educational system.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2024As a substitute teacher, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I work in a school district that has a very diverse student population and appreciated the anecdotes and insight provided by the author. Lots of information for me to put to use in the coming academic year!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2024Renes Lophanor's book is an emotional rollercoaster that left me inspired and hopeful. His genuine passion for teaching shines through every page, and his stories—especially about Ryan—illustrate the transformative power of empathy and connection in education. As a homeschooler, I also appreciated his critique of standardized testing and his emphasis on creativity and collaboration. Highly recommended!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2025"To me, intelligence is not just about what you know but how you apply what you know." I love this quote from the book! I grew up in a system focused on memorization, which left me with little retention of subjects I now love. This book offers a refreshing perspective on how we can do better. Renes shares simple, practical ways to improve how we teach—simple methods that not only enhance understanding but also make learning truly enjoyable. I highly recommend this book to anyone passionate about education and lifelong learning!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2025Oh how I wish every teacher approached teaching as this author does! We have chosen the homeschool route for many reasons, one reason being the many failures of the public education system. This book could almost serve as an outline for revamping that broken system. Somehow the author has managed to keep his passion for teaching alive regardless. I have noticed that this is not the case for so many teachers. I especially appreciate his view on the importance of building connections with students. I think any educator could glean nuggets of wisdom from this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A lire et relire
