Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Im a-waiting for my Lambs-foot to come over the waters, it's on it's way as we speak- so I just cannot wait!
I thought That Lambs-foot was a real interesting Knife Jack- and no other thank you my friend should own.
I have been searching the big site for older Sheffield's of late!

Hope you get it soon my friend :) Watch out for a package from me too ;)

It really is Duncan, I was thrilled to receive it :)

Hey, watch yourself on that big site! :D

Picked this TEW up for just under $27. My first. Blade is 3" from tip to bolster. 4 1/8" closed. The blade etch is faded but you can make it out at the correct angle. It's used but nice and tight. Im not sure if its carbon or stainless, I'll find out tomorrow. I like the long swedge and the taper to a thin tip. I'm looking forward to using and deciding how well I like a lambsfoot.

Congrats on your second TEW !!!!! What are the covers made of ????

Harry

Jack!!!
Your amazing- naughty but amazing- yes that big site   You do have to be careful- I have enough burn marks to learn to approach that Candy Cottage with extreme care lol.

You are The Legend my friend! :) :D  There've been no knives on the UK Candy Cottage for some years now :( I still have a few old scars though! :D

Thanks Harry, I think the covers are some type of synthetic material. It came to me servicably sharp, not shaving sharp, before work yesterday I spent about 5 mins on the strop and it's now hair popping sharp which led me to believe it's carbon steel and after using it to spread condiments on my sandwich I confirmed it's carbon and that's a good thing

I forget what they call it in Sheffield Rob. Nice to hear it's carbon though, it takes a lovely edge :)

That’s a great looking breakfast Jack! I fixed sausage and egg sandwichs with a dash of hot sauce for our breakfast this morning. I’m Totin the Guardian and a Stag #25 until my mailman makes his rounds. :) After that it’s new Horn and Stag from Sheffield!!! ;):D:eek:

I'm sure your waiting will be awarded with a beautiful knife Duncan! I meant to post this in the Guardians thread, but somehow got distracted and posted it somewhere else :

These knives have something in common, they're almost too pretty to use. Especially the Guardians Lambsfoot: normally I use the main blades of my knives primarily for fruit, but I'd hate to lose the etch and shiny blade on this one. So for now it won't do any fruit cutting, but there'll still be other chores it can do :)

Today we'll celebrate Sinterklaas, so there will be a lot of presents that need opening :D

I know what you mean Mark! :D The nearest to fruit mine has been so far is fresh dates and apple pie! :D

As you said Jack it does take a lovely edge, reminds me of 1095 although I doubt that's what was used. I opened boxes and cut various household items today and touched up the edge again then cut see through thin onion slices. I may just fall in love with this pattern :) has some yellow in the covers in spots.

I’ve been seeing a ton of these on the “totin’” forum and I’m shocked at how beautiful all the different Buffalo horn is!

Nice stripes on those horn scales, they catch the light amazingly.

Here's an old music hall turn, Gus Elen, giving us the virtues of drinking ale with every meal:D

5K Qs 5K Qs I'm very much enjoying your holiday photos.

I've indexed beyond what is shown in that example, but the limit of 10,000 characters per post is thwarting me a bit. Each of those links takes a lot of characters behind the scenes. I have an idea that should help, but I need to code it up. Once I've done that and can have a better idea of how much of the index can go on any page, I'll reserve a few posts for the starting official location of the index and put up what I've got so that people can use it.

I agree with these fellas, GT. I've been enjoying your holiday themed photos as well!

When I was a lad, we always called the noon meal "dinner" (and the evening meal "supper"), but I almost never hear that usage any more. We called the morning meal "breakfast", and as mentioned above, I have to eat some NOW! :D:D

But first, another holiday photo: this one shows my rosewood lambsfoot under a ceramic Christmas tree.

Cool pic GT, and I hope you enjoy your breakfast :) I had a tea and toast when I got up, but am preparing to fix myself my Sunday morning sausage sandwich. Historically, here at least, I think 'lunch' is a relatively recent middle-class affectation, and ordinary folk, particularly in the north, say 'dinner' (which the posh folks have at supper time). Here, most folks I know refer, as in the past, to their evening meal as their 'tea' (they might get a light snack as supper later). That usage goes back a long ways, but I don't think it's as old as 'supper'. In the 1980's, while visiting a primary school I believe, Margaret Thatcher famously said, "There's no such thing as 'dinner', it's 'lunch'!", which has probably helped to keep the word 'dinner' alive in the north of England! :D
