Calling all GIS educators…..NEARC and the New England Geography Alliance Network will hold their 4th Annual GIS Educators Day on November 13, 2011 at the Hilton Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY. The event, focusing on the use of GIS in both K-12 and higher education, is a one day preconference to NEARC’s annual user conference which runs from November 13-16. GIS Educators Day focuses specifically on topics and issues relevant to the educational implementation of GIS and other geospatial technologies. The event is for experienced GIS users as well as for those who want to learn about the educational possibilities of this powerful tool. Informal educators (4H, afterschool programs, scouts, etc.) are encouraged to participate as well.
Please consider submitting a presentation proposal for GIS Educators Day. Criteria are listed below.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
• The presentation cannot market specific products and services
• Presenters must register and pay to attend the preconference at the regular preconference fee.
(There will be a special Sunday/Monday rate for those who would like to stay for the first day of
the main users conference)
• Abstracts must be submitted by July 18, 2011
• TO SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT FOR GIS EDUCATORS DAY, COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW AND SUBMIT. PLEASE NOTE: There will be an Education track at the main NEARC conference (following GIS Educators Day) as well. In general, education presentations at the main conference should be ones that, while on the topic of education, have significant relevance to the wider professional GIS community. Presentations at GIS Educators Day are directed specifically to the K-12 and higher ed communities.
