PORTLAND (WGME) – Police are looking for witnesses, after they say a driver hit a woman in a wheelchair, and took off.

It happened at the intersection of Walton Street and Forest Avenue in Portland Tuesday afternoon.

A little after 3:30 p.m., police say the woman was crossing Walton Street in a motorized wheelchair, when a Hyundai hit the woman, and kept going toward Ocean Avenue.

The victim's injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Police say they've identified the vehicle and are trying to identify the driver.

Witnesses are asked to call Portland police at 874-8575.
