A 47-year-old woman with autism was stabbed Saturday night at a group home by a 22-year-old man with autism. The wounds were not serious, according to Lafayette police.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A commotion inside a group home in the 900 block of South 10th Street sent a 47-year-old woman to the hospital Saturday night with a minor stab wound, Lafayette police said.

The woman, who suffers from autism and is a resident there, was stabbed by a 22-year-old man, who also suffers from autism and is a resident, police said.

The man became upset about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the other resident in the shoulder blade area, police said, calling the wound minor.

Police arrested the man on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery with a knife. He was booked into the Tippecanoe County Jail at 9:41 p.m. Saturday.
