'I don't like the man at all': Trump's distant Scottish cousin says the president once stole her PANCAKES and is nothing like his 'lovely' parents

  • Alice Mackay, 79, of Scotland is related to Donald Trump's mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who emigrated to the U.S. in 1930
  • Mackay said of Trump: 'I don't like the man at all, but described Trump's parents as a generous, 'lovely pair' who gave money to charities
  • Trump, on the other hand, 'wouldn't give a penny', she said
  • 'I don't know what went wrong with him,' Mackay said of her distant cousin
  • She recalled making pancakes one morning after her husband died and said Trump 'put a few pancakes in pocket and never said "cheerio" or anything'

Long before he was elected president, Donald Trump's boorish behavior was a thorn in the side of his distant Scottish cousin, Alice Mackay, who says the son of the late Fred and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump was nothing like his endearing mom and dad.

'I don't like the man at all,' Mackay, 79, said of Donald Trump. 'He had lovely parents, I don't know what went wrong with him.'

Mackay is related to the maternal side of the president's family. Trump's mother emigrated to the U.S. from Scotland in 1930 before marrying his father in 1936.

Trump's older sister Maryanne Trump Barry, 82, and their mom visited her native country every summer for years trying to stay connected to their Scottish ancestry.

'She never forgot her roots and actually wanted to be buried here, but I think it was too much of an expense at the time and I don’t think her husband wanted it,' Mackay said of Trump's mother.

But Mackay said her bombastic younger cousin almost never came to his mom's homeland before buying a golf course in Turnberry, Scotland in 2014.

When 'Donald' was in town, she said he did not stay long and wasn't very friendly.

'Every time [the Trumps] were over here they came to ours for dinner,' Mackay told the Independent during a recent interview.

'He [Donald Trump] was here one morning I was busy making pancakes and he had forgotten my husband had died. He put a few pancakes in pocket and never said "cheerio" or anything.'

Trump's mom and sister also donated to hospices and charities like the Tong centre, according to Mackay who said Donald Trump didn't inherit his family's philanthropic spirit along with his father's wealth.

A 2016 Washington Post investigation revealed Trump gave more than $102 million to charity from 2011 to 2016, but none of those donations actually came in the form of money from the president's own personal fortune. Most were free rounds of golf at Trump's golf courses, which were auctioned and raffled off to raise money for various causes.

'They were a lovely pair,' Mackay said of Trump's parents.

'They also asked Donald, but he wouldn’t give a penny,' she added.
