"You expect to find a body at a funeral. Just like you expect it to be in a coffin and, if you're a mourner, you know the deceased's name. This body wasn't, and we didn't..."

When Rosie Hart discovers a body at Jose Gonzales' funeral she's shocked, and not just because it doesn't belong to Jose. The day before the same woman had come to her, claiming that someone was trying to kill her. Now Rosie wishes she'd listened more closely. But it's a place to start, and when she and Sheriff Kinnead start digging it takes them back to an unsolved double murder fifteen years before. Would finding the killer of the funeral crasher mean they'd solve three murders in one swoop? Maybe. But first they have to crack a code that could hold the answer. Nothing is easy in tiny Airlie Falls...

I am really enjoying this series, I have read books one and two and have book three calling to me from my massive TBR pile and this novella was a quick and fabulously enjoyable read, Rosie has her brain working hard helping the Sheriff solve another murder in the town of Arlie Falls.

Finding a body at a funeral is to be expected, but when said body is not in the coffin and is a female instead of a male and it is that of a woman who visited Rosie the day before with worries about her life, Rosie needs to get to the bottom of this mystery and fast and with one on the deputies away, the sheriff is happy for Rosie’s help this time.

This is a fast paced story with visitors in town for the funeral that was supposed to happen and the mystery of an unsolved double murder from fifteen years ago and the theft of a painting, there is a lot to research and Rosie gets it down pat with her investigative mind, and fabulous personality.
Truly MS Delaney knows how to tell and tale and solve a mystery, this one had me smiling and turning the pages, I love the people of Arlie Falls they are fabulous characters that all help each other and add so much to each story, it is so very well written and I highly recommend this novella and the series so far, thank you MS Delaney I loved this one.

Enjoyable cozy! It was really good in that the "unexpected" body at the funeral caused an inquiry that lead back to a 15 year old murder. Interesting in how the investigation developed. A good, short read!
