A 58-year-old Washington County man pleaded no contest Monday to attacking a developmentally disabled woman last year.

Cherokee Miles Williams, of Hurricane, was charged in 5th District Court with first-degree felony counts of rape, aggravated kidnapping and forcible sodomy, as well as second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse.

Williams pleaded no contest to the rape count and the other charges were dismissed.

He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced on March 21 by Judge Eric Ludlow.

Williams' plea agreement states that on Sept. 16 he had sexual intercourse with the 38-year-old woman, who has diminished mental capacity.

"The victim suffers from a seizure disorder and functions on a 7-year-old level and cannot consent," the court document states.,

St. George Police Capt. Mike Giles has said that the victim was abducted during daylight hours from a street near her St. George home, driven to an unspecified area and assaulted. She was then released, walked home and told a relative what had happened. The relative called police.

Williams was arrested less than three weeks after police posted on their Facebook page images of the man and his car from a store security camera, which generated numerous tips and leads from the public.
