Hurricane Isaias is nearing the south Florida coastline and the Treasure Coast is under a hurricane warning and a storm surge watch.

A watch means conditions could be seen while a warning means these conditions are expected.

The storm's northward movement slowed a bit overnight and the eye might not be off Miami's coastline until overnight Sunday.

For the Treasure Coast starting in Martin County, that means we might not see the eye pass by our coast until late Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, Martin County could start seeing the first bands with tropical storm force winds around 9 to 10 p.m. Saturday night.

They also noted the eye also shifted slightly east, but not enough to change any of the current warnings.

The National Hurricane Center reports dangerous storm surge is possible along Florida's East Coast from Jupiter Inlet to Ponte Vedra Beach where water rises of 2 to 4 feet above ground level are possible along the immediate coastline and adjacent waterways.

Isaias is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph, and a general northwest motion, with some decrease in forward speed.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles.

The storm is still projected to be a Category 1 storm.

The storm will start impacting the peninsula around Miami late Saturday morning to early afternoon.

The storm also strengthened overnight, with sustained winds of 85 mph. A Category 1 storm is classified as having winds between 74-95 mph.

The latest models have the eye skirting the Martin County coast early Sunday afternoon.

The track still has it plodding along the coastline.

The next major update is expected at 11 a.m.
