Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey has pledged additional support from his Ministry for the Safe Zone Programme because Barbados needs its young men.
Speaking at today’s closing ceremony at the St. Leonard’s Boys’ School, the Minister says if Barbados was to lose them to violence and other crime, the country would be losing too.
He says far too often society labels them but when given chances their greatness shows.
Speaking from his own experience, he said he too got into trouble.
However, the trouble ended when people who believed in him led him on the right path.
The 64 young men were divided into three categories with mentors heading each and a number of different soft skills and disciplines were instilled.
They were presented with their completion certificates by Deputy Permanent Secretary Mark Franklin.
