Germany, Italy, France, and Spain joined the ranks of European countries that temporarily halted use of the Covid-19 shot made by AstraZeneca (AZN) over blood-clot concerns, dealing another blow to the continent’s sluggish vaccination rollout and threatening the credibility of the vaccine itself, The Wall Street Journal says. Moderna (MRNA) has begun studying its Covid-19 vaccine in children aged 6 months to 11 years in the U.S. and Canada, the latest effort to widen the mass-vaccination campaign beyond adults, The Wall Street Journal notes. The bulk of the U.S. Covid-19 vaccination campaign so far has focused on protecting adults, who are at higher risk of severe disease caused by the coronavirus than children. The first children have received doses in the study, which Moderna is conducting in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
