SGPC passes resolution condemning Supreme Court’s verdict on Babri Masjid

CHANDIGARH,Punjab—During the general house meeting on November 27, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee passed a resolution condemning Supreme Court’s verdict in the favor of Hindu community over the disputed land of Babri Masjid. The apex Sikh body has objected over the references used by Supreme Court of India about Guru Nanak Sahib’s visit to Ayodhya for delivering verdict in favor of Hindus.

The resolution was verbally added to the list of other resolutions by SGPC Gobind Singh Longowal after the SGPC member Sukhdev Singh Bhaur raised demand for it. The resolution got passed unanimously in the general house meeting of apex Sikh body.

It is noteworthy here that the five member SC bench had delivered its verdict in favor of Hindus by citing Guru Nanak Sahib’s visit to Ayodhya in 1510-11 while the Babri Masjid came into existence in 1528-29.

Interacting with the media, Sukhdev Singh Bhaur said that the Supreme Court of India added statement of an RSS worker while dubbing him as a Sikh. “What could be worse than it that the SC bench used an RSS worker’s statement instead of asking the SGPC or Sri Akal Takht Sahib,” he added.

Bhaur also questioned over the working of SGPC by saying that what the SGPC was doing when this kind of exercise was going on in the Supreme Court.
