Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

View attachment 831454 Wishing Jack Black safe travels  in cold northern England, and a warm and informative visit with the folks at the A Wright & Son shop.

That's a cool photo Michael :) Many thanks for the good wishes, I've been out of the house all day, and while it has certainly been cold, the gales forecast have not yet materialised, so I hope I'll be OK to get over to Sheffield tomorrow

One of the benefits of living in England is I can order a knife from A Wright & Son and it is on my doormat the next day.

Great stuff  Wasn't this a much longer post earlier?

I've had this straight stag with me again today, but will slip my Guardians Lambsfoot into my pocket for my trip to Sheffield :)

Hello Guardians sorry no knife pic. But last week I showed my lambsfoot with my new bathroom tile figured I’d show the bathroom almost done. Will show a lambsfoot or two tomorrow.

Well spotted Jack, I was feeling unloved so thinking I would save it for a while and post a fuller review, I cut it down and intend to post in a week or so and use the time to try and work out how to post pictures:D.

Safe travels, Jack! Your journey reminded me of something, I'm sending you a PM.

safe travels my friend! will this be by the tubes? bus? car?

Thanks guys, I'm just on the train now (a rare phone post for me)! :)

LOL! :D Looking forward to seeing your review :)

I've got my ebony Lambsfoot and my Guardians Lambsfoot in my pockets today, and half a dozen more in my bag. No doubt I'll have even more with me on my return journey from Sheffield ;) Happy Friday folks, the weekend is nearly here :)

Chin, astoundingly good Stag on that, always enjoy seeing it.

Thanks Will.:) I appreciate the compliment, my friend. As I wanted a bit more of an aged, well used appearance to this knife, I experimented with dunking it in strong black tea overnight, then dabbing the low spots with potassium permanganate solution, rubbing the high points with a bit of scrap leather with some compound on it, between applications. I don't know if it's apparent, but I actually 'shaded' the dark patches to accentuate the appearance of depth - that is, one side of each little declivity should be a little darker than the other side. At least I didn't completely wreck the natural beauty of the stag - I hope!:D;)

Wow!
Chin - What a neat group photo my friend- a handful of goodnessright there- I love the way the lights is just glimmering in

Thanks Duncan.:) I went outside to take some pics, but the light was like high noon in Death Valley, so I used the shade of some tomato plants to take that pic.;) It's probably a no-no in formal photography, but personally I don't mind a bit of leaf shadow or sun spangle in an outdoor photo.;)

Nice work Chin, and thanks :) I didn't see Stan today, but I had a very satisfying visit to Arthur Wright's, and discussed a lot of stuff with John Maleham, and his deputy Mick. I think some good projects will come of it :) Mick's son, Ashley, who did the bolsters for the 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot, also came downstairs from the workshop to say hello, which was nice. I also saw a knife Ashley had produced himself, which was an interesting design, and showed a lot of talent I think. As we had been discussing fancy bolsters, Mick, who served his apprenticeship at Joseph Elliot's, where his dad also worked, showed me this old die. I think Charlie @waynorth will find it particularly interesting, as he has at least one Elliot knife with those bolsters. Sorry about my poor photos.

I picked up a few things for folks who'd contacted me. If you're one of those, please be patient, and I'll be in touch in due course

I'll also be sending out an email to the Lambsfoot list in due course. If you're not on it, and would like to be, please PM me your email address

That bolster die is very cool, Jack. I'm glad to hear that you and your bag of knives had a good trip to Sheffield. I always enjoy hearing about your visits with the folks at Wright's.

Thanks a lot Greg :)

Accidentally double-posted, but it doesn't seem I can delete this extra...just edit.
