Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

CALLING ALL GUARDIANS! HELP ME WITH A BIG & DIRTY JOB!

The recent Photobucket shenanigans has inevitably caused some ugly gaps in this thread. These things happen from time to time, but I'd like to keep the Guardians thread as complete as possible, while it's still of manageable proportions. So I'm asking for your help. Please consider re-editing any affected posts you've made in this thread, so that your pics show again. As a reward, I'll do a giveaway. Your name goes in the hat once for each Lambsfoot photo you've posted here prior to this post - for each photo that can be seen! I'll do a draw in a month, and the winner gets a prize. How's that?

Thanks everyone

Jack
Very generous incentive, Jack, for the community to try to make amends for the Photobucket fiasco.:thumbsup:
But please don't put my name into the hat, since my imgur-hosted pics are currently just as I originally posted them. :)

Thanks GT, I know this is going to be a real effort for some posters, so I just want to give something back. I've edited every one of my posts in the first 40 pages now, but think I'm going to need to take a break

Great to see you here my friend  That's my usual 'fix', I usually use a slither of balsa wood

Cheers, Jack.:) Good idea too, to take the bull by the horns and collectively reorganise the thread, while it's still manageable. That's a marathon reediting effort you've made there, my friend. You've had a bit of a rough ol' time of it lately, mate, what with the software switch mangling many of your great thread sequences from past years, and now this...:(

I'll start working through mine, but it might take a little while to do it by phone, which is mostly how I read and post here.

Yes, it was something like point too high with the match under the tang and no effect with the match under the edge.

Attempting a direct upload. If it works, it should show that my 2-blade lf is not much if any thicker than my singletons.

Thanks for the pics Jer, it's interesting to see those comparative handle thicknesses.

Do the dual blade models feel similar in use to the single bladers, or does the extra weight also make them feel different in balance?

Another beauty Chin. Very nice photo:thumbsup:

Thanks Alan!:)

The double is a little shorter than the singles, which makes it a little thicker relatively, I just realized. It balances about half a finger's width further back than the wooden single, but I'm not connoisseurial enough to really feel the difference, especially with the other differences: the wooden single has a slimmer handle with more sway to it's back. I like the blade on the new one, with its canonical slope.

Thanks for the rundown Jer. I'll be interested to hear if you think the pen/clip blade is a worthwhile addition, after using it for a while.

I meant to also add that regarding the old timers favouring their pen blades - I'm not sure as to why that might be in the UK and the US - but in Australia, it was reputedly because they were kept very sharp and used for the initial incisions in rabbit skinning. I suppose the main blade, whether Lambsfoot or Bunny clip point, was used for more general tasks, and maybe sharpened away less assiduously...

Here's a bit of frosty morning Lambshank from this past weekend...

I'll start whacking some lambs.
Wasn't Sir Edmund Hillary's knife a lambsfoot and pen? (I've been searching in vain for it.)

Thanks Jer, I've done the first 20 pages of my posts, so far!

Well done Lee :) I'm currently on page 26 of my posts in this thread, but my mouse-hand is beginning to feel like the hand of a slot-playing old lady in a Las Vegas casino! :D

A monolithic effort Jack Black Jack Black ! I am sure I speak for all of us in saying that not only are your efforts commendable and noteworthy but they are so greatly appreciated. We cannot have a Guardians thread without what you have contributed and I hope that the effort hasn't broken your clicking hand or discouraged you too greatly. We should be holding a giveaway for you!

I echo these sentiments. Jack has had a rough go of it, I wish he were closer, I'd be buying him pints left and right. Wish I could be of more help regardless, though. I feel a wee bit useless at this time whilst everyone else is enduring far more strife.

Jack I'm fairly sure my few post are downloads from IMGUR but I'll check. Also you are so kind and generous to have a GAW for this I wish we had a member of the Month or year to honor folks like you with a nice knife for the winner each time. AAPK has a monthly give away sponsored by a different member each month. I'm going to think about this and maybe try to get it started. I would definitely vote for you as the first winner. I also need to put another package from the states for you in the next few weeks. This time I won't tell you when I ship so it will be a bit of a surprise. :D

Thanks a lot pal :) I'm amazed you can make all those great posts on your phone! :D  I thought I was halfway through the tunnel, but then got hit by a Windows 10 Bomb yesterday!

Great pic of your Lambshank :)

Try searching on 'George Mallory'! ;) :D

Thanks a lot for the kind words and virtual pints Dylan :)

You have a heart of gold Randy :)

Carrying my Unity Lambsfoot these past couple of days :)

I am humbled by your persistence and determination, Jack.
I don't know if I could tackle the job you are doing. And indeed we are all vulnerable to that despicable blackmail!

Thanks a lot Charlie, I have thought about you often this past week in relation to some of your excellent long threads, particularly the Barlow thread, which I'm sure will have lost many images. I noticed Photobucket had taken some money in payment the other day, so IF they are true to their word, my photos in those threads should be secure for the next 12 months at least. Well, assuming PB don't go under completely anyway!

Will do, Jack. But it may take awhile as you mentioned. :)

Thanks my friend, nice to see that one again, I didn't get much of a chance to have a look at it when we picked them up. It's a nice one for sure, I like the horn, but also the nice crisp tang stamp :) Hope you're managing to make sense of the lingo! :D

That's extremely impressive, Jack!!:thumbsup: 2/3 of the job completed already!:thumbsup:

Very sorry to hear that you were afflicted by some Windows fiasco on the heels of the PB debacle!

You got me, Jer!!:p After seeing your post, I spent some time searching for Hillary's knife, since I was certain I'd seen it several times in the Traditional subforum. When Jack gently suggested "Mallory", I gave myself a "dope slap"!

^^^ H herder , what a beautiful A. Wright Lambsfoot!
+5K!!! I'm in total agreement with Greg! The horn on your lambsfoot is outstanding, herder!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks GT, I ended up editing the full 60 pages the same day, even changed all the :thumbup:s to ! :D So getting hit by the Windows Bomb the very next day was a real pain, I was up until 3.30am editing all my bookmarks back in to Google as code, about 150 of them, that was a tedious job for sure! Then up at 7.00am to have another crack at it. I'm feeling pretty burnt out with computers! All totally unnecessary work too! I really hope nobody else here gets hit with the same thing
