Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Is that a new two-blade (can't keep up)? It looks good anyway
It's the A Wright I extensively modified, but before the modifications (didn't realize I'd gone that far back).

Thanks for your very generous GAW, and of course I'm in, but this new phone that has a camera doesn't seem to want to part with the images so far.
Everything's a struggle.
So I guess it's time to get plumb mad-dog mean with my phone. (Josey Wales(paraphrase))

And another shot just for fun.

Thanks for the great pics Keith, and Happy Hunting this week :)

Thanks jack back at the camper the boy is already asleep excited about tomorrow. Me I think a nice ice cold coke cola and some pistachios around the fire listening to some The Who. To end the night early wake up tomorrow. Goodnight Guardians stay safe and enjoy your evening.

I never tire of looking at this knife Jack. Cream of covers:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks a lot Rob :)

Ah, I was looking for the mod, thought you'd gone and got a new one! :D Good luck with your phone my friend, I've given up on the one I bought a few months back, and gone back to my previous one o_O £150 down the drain

Very cool pics  Hard to beat having the original catalogue cut of an old knife :)

What a great night! :)

Sunday morning here folks. I've got chores lined up in the house, so thought my ebony Lambsfoot might come in handy

Couldn't resist slipping my Guardians Lambsfoot in my other pocket though! ;) In its special pants of course! :)

Just wondering what opinion you folks with a few different Lambsfoot knives have of the different sizes of blades they come in? Charlie @waynorth told me he prefers the larger size. I like the big ones, you've got a fair bit more knife there, they're a bit easier to pinch open, and possibly have better ergonomics. I prefer the medium size though, it's more pocketable, and a very versatile size I think, I don't miss having anything bigger. The smaller blade is OK, a useful knife for its size, but I definitely prefer the medium size, which is only about 1/4" bigger I think. Be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions though folks

These are the three sizes produced by A.Wright. Those produced by other cutlers may vary in size, but if you have a few, you'll be able to spot the biggie I think :) Here's a couple of big 'uns by William Rodgers

What is the most common length of these lambsfoot knives? Also...what is considered large and small? I am going to make a half dozen or so with horn covers. Thanks.

John Lloyd

My blade-lengths range from 2.75" to 3", since I cut down the black TEW to 3" for jurisdictional comfort. I like the G's LF best for its specialness and its flatness for subtle carry. I like the nameless redhead (3" tip to bolster) best for flamboyant ergonomics.
It just occurred to me I should grind back one of the TEW redheads (I have two such TEWs) to 2.5" for Chicago and Cleveland purposes.

In my limited experience, 2.75" tip to bolster seems to be the usual, 3.25" is large, and I've never seen a small.

Very sensible question John, sorry for the vagueness of my post (it was a sneaky attempt to not get out the tape-measure again)! :D I hope you'll share those with us here in this thread. Very exciting :)

Small is 1/8" below the medium size

It's a real shame to have to grind them back isn't it? :( Much the same here, the large Lambsfoot is 'pushing it a bit'

And me,I have to say I blame you for my renewed interest in Sheffield made knives:D.The few I’ve bought of late have been very well put together. In fact I don’t know how they do it for the small cost.

Sorry! :D Yes, I'm very impressed with the quality over the past couple of years, I don't know how they do it either, but I'm determined to grab a few while I can afford them! ;) :D

I hope your sciatica eases up, Jack, that can surely make one's life a wee bit miserable. Hopefully you get some respite and can go out and enjoy yourself. A fine choice for a cutlery companion!

Well, as promised, I went home and took a couple of pictures. Inspired by the many group shots as of late, I gathered my meager assortment together and posed them accordingly. I do enjoy that so many of the Lambsfoot knives that many of us have are in possession of mark and pile side covers that are equally interesting. Because of this, I opted to pose them one way and then another, it is almost as if there were 10 different knives! :D
