Of all the B&B's we stayed at during a 2 week vacation in Newfoundland this one was the worst. The decor in the downstairs bedrooms was non-existant and the bed we slept in should have been beside the road on garbage day a long time ago. We were informed (as all twelve guests were) that breakfast would be at 8AM but it turned out to be later than that. When the eggs and bacon finally arrived we were informed that we were responsable for our own toast. We found a general lack of attention to detail.

Positives: The B&B was clean enough and located in a relatively quiet neighbourhood.

Negatives: Trash along the driveway was a good indication of the lack of attention the owner has devoted to his business. The owner mentioned he had only bought the B&B two months previously and we got the impression that he hasn't had time to iron out all the wrinkles yet.

I would highy recommended the Lucas House B & B to all who desire quality accomodations at an affordable price. Our stay was nothing less than perfect. Everything was of the highest quality, from the furnishings to the breakfast to the hospitality. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

We had a fabulous time at Lucas House Bed and Breakfast. The hostess Mary Janes was amazing - and fed us well and gave us valuable info in what to see in the area. The room we had (although small) suited us perfectly and came with a beautiful view of the side yard and had a private claw foot tub/bathroom for our private use. The price per night was also extremely affordable - well worth the money. The location is very quiet but close enough to the Trans-Canada that it's very convenient.
We stayed a total of 4 nights. If you are a motorcyclist - this is a heaven on earth. The hostess actually cleared out her garage and let us park our Harley's in her garage. It was great. We knew that our bikes were safe and secure.
We will be returning there next year - when we return to Newfoundland. This B&B is worth stopping at.
