Oswego County man charged with sexually abusing mentally challenged man

TOWN OF ALBION -- A man is accused of sexually abusing a mentally challenged man at a residence in Oswego County.

Robert H. Boyer

Robert H. Boyer, 67, of Albion, was charged with third-degree criminal sex act, second-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, forcible touching, and second-degree sexual abuse.

State police said Boyer is accused of having sexual contact with a mentally challenged man at a home in the town of Albion. Troopers provided no time-frame, but a police blotter entry shows Boyer was arrested Feb. 2.

State police did not provide further details of the case and a spokesman could not be reached for comment Wednesday night. It was not clear if troopers were still investigating the case.

Boyer was arraigned in Albion Town Court and released. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 21.

Reached by phone Wednesday night, Boyer referred a reporter to his lawyer, but would not say who his lawyer was. He then hung up.
