A Central Texas man was jailed Tuesday, charged in connection with an incident in which a disabled woman who was trying to break up a fight was struck and choked.

Wade Dale Alexander, was ordered held on bonds totaling $5,000 charged with injury to a disabled person and without bond facing additional charges of assault family violence by occlusion and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver cocaine enhanced, online jail records showed.

Alexander was arrested on the assault family violence and cocaine possession charges on April 5 and on the assault on a disabled person on Monday.

The charges stem from an incident in February in which a disabled woman was beaten with a cane and an oxygen tank, Waco police Officer Steve Anderson said.

Two men got involved in a fight at a home and when the woman tried to break them up, one of the men began striking her with a cane and hit her with an oxygen tank, Anderson said.

The suspect also choked the victim.
