So I have to ask, I'm really interested in one of the Wright lamb foot in stag, but I don't want to buy 3looking for good fit and finish and nice gnarly stag. How do you accomplish such a thing?

There's always Dr Glennbad! ;)

I've just made a post about stag in the Wright's factory thread: Visiting Arthur Wright & Son (Pics) (Also see Vince's post above)

Probably the best stag I've had personally is on this one, but I think it is atypical, and if you want gnarly stag, you may have to go for an older knife

Very nice Lambsfoot there, spycycle.

And with a carbon steel blade too, I presume?

That bocote looks fantastic.

How do you find the fit and finish?

If you intend to use this one, i'll be interested to hear your thoughts on it. :)

Ladies and Gentlemen of the lambsfoot, I present to you my application for admission!

spycycle, That is very nice! Congratulations!

Welcome Brother Spycycle! :D Hope you get on with your new Lambsfoot :) It looks nicely put together, the blade is from A.Wright

Jack, this photo looks like that horn has a light source hidden within! No doubt in my mind, one of the best examples I have seen yet my friend!:thumbsup::D

Thanks Ron, very kind of you :) It was definitely one I couldn't pass up. The longer blade is interesting. I have a few older ones like this, and though personally I think I prefer the smaller blade, I'm sure that others would prefer the larger version. Definitely worth a try

Thanks everybody! It's going in my pocket and off to work today, time to really test the pattern!

Thanks, yeah the bocote is a real treat.

Blade is carbon steel, produced by A. Wright as JB mentioned (the little 'foot' at the kick is mostly hidden by the bolster) and required a decent amount of sharpening/stropping to get the tip nice and sharp.

The finish is great - the handle isn't polished, so the wood grain has some really nice texture to it, and I imagine it will age very nicely. The brass liners and bolsters have a coarse satin to them for a matching feel. There are some gaps along the backspring that I wish weren't there, but this will be a user for me, so it also isn't the end of the world.

Thanks for the report Spycycle, please let us know how you continue to get on with it

Nice to see this thread approaching 40 pages! Baaaa! :D
