ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A disability rights group says the state is responsible for at least two deaths in New Mexico boarding homes.

Disability Rights New Mexico has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Health claiming the agency has failed to license and regulate boarding homes, putting the disabled at risk of abuse and neglect.

The group points to two deaths in a Las Vegas home in 2013.

It also says the DOH failed to act on recommendations from a 2010 legislative study to establish better standards.
