FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Bost Incorporated helps those with disabilities in Western Arkansas to find the opportunities they deserve. Thanks to a new facility in Rogers, the folks the organization serves have a place to live that offers a high degree of independence.

“I like it. It’s much roomier than my [old] apartment,” Bost Inc. client Phil Hawkins shared.

Hawkins is just one of the folks who moved into the new housing Bost Inc. opened this past February. It provides him and others with developmental disabilities a living situation they enjoy.

“I like the neighbors around here,” Hawkins said.

We followed by asking him, “It makes a difference, right?”
“Yeah,” Hawkins was quick to respond.

Hawkins and other community members he lives with get the independence they are looking for while receiving the services they need to be successful in life.

“We serve people in 28 counties across the western half of Arkansas,” Bost Inc. Assistant Executive Director James Maginot explained. “We serve them out in their community.”

Thought the housing is not affiliated or supported by HUD, Bost charges HUD prices — which they said is a mere fraction of the actual cost of the living space.

“Up here in Northwest Arkansas, one of the greatest needs is affordable and accessible housing for people with disabilities,” Maginot said. “We do our best to integrate people into their communities. So we want them [clients] living in their community.”

Maginot was quick to point out how rich Northwest Arkansas is with the number of agencies dedicated to helping those with disabilities. He says choice is important, and he hopes Bost is able to be a leader among those organizations because it benefits their clients in how they live their lives.

“They love it,” Maginot shared.  “They’re integrated into their community. They go bowling, they go shopping, they go to the mall, they are citizens of Rogers and that’s all they want to be.

“They want to be like you and me, they want to have their own home, they want to go wherever they want to go and do as they do. So we’re really proud of that.”

As for Hawkins, he said he is not looking to leave anytime soon.

“Nope, I like to live here,” Hawkins said.

It is important to note Bost Inc. eats the difference in what the housing actually costs, versus what they charge those who live there.
