The mother of a 14-year-old boy with autism said bullying got so bad at a Tracy school that her son had to go to the emergency room.Sandy Howard told KCRA 3 that her son was bullied after she complained to the school many times.The student, Robert Ward, was rushed to the hospital Tuesday from Kimball High School after his lip was cracked open. Ward said it happened after another student bullied him."He was being mean to me because he likes to be mean to people," Robert said. "They hit me. It hurt so bad.""It's really hard for a parent to have to see your child like this. It's horrible," Howard said. "I'm outraged. I've made complaints to the school that Robert is functioning at a second-grade level in special education. He's being bullied at school and has come home crying."Howard said she contacted the school several times for help but was always told the school would investigate.However, she said her fears came true."I was furious my son could get this kind of injury at a school," Howard said. "I want the bullying to be taken more seriously in the schools because I felt like my complaints were ignored.""We take bullying very seriously," Principal Rob Pecot said. "When we get an incident of bullying, we launch an investigation and look into the matter."Attorney Gil Somera said the school should have immediately responded to Howard's concerns."At this point, they failed to provide a safe a learning environment," Somera said.

The student, Robert Ward, was rushed to the hospital Tuesday from Kimball High School after his lip was cracked open. Ward said it happened after another student bullied him.

"He was being mean to me because he likes to be mean to people," Robert said. "They hit me. It hurt so bad."

"It's really hard for a parent to have to see your child like this. It's horrible," Howard said. "I'm outraged. I've made complaints to the school that Robert is functioning at a second-grade level in special education. He's being bullied at school and has come home crying."

"We take bullying very seriously," Principal Rob Pecot said. "When we get an incident of bullying, we launch an investigation and look into the matter."

Attorney Gil Somera said the school should have immediately responded to Howard's concerns.

"At this point, they failed to provide a safe a learning environment," Somera said.
