A Jewish university that proposes awarding former President Jimmy Carter with a peace award has sparked the outrage of pro-Israel activists, who say he’s done little, if anything, to advance their cause.
Yeshiva University Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law is set to bestow the International Advocate for Peace award on Mr. Carter on Wednesday, the Washington Free Beacon reported. And pro-Israel individuals and groups aren’t wasting any time. They’re gathering as much support as they can to halt the presentation.
“I can’t imagine a worse candidate for any kind of a human rights award,” said Harvard law professor and pro-Israel author Allan Dershowitz, to the Washington Free Beacon. “He has more blood on his hands than practically any other president.”
For instance: Mr. Carter remained silent as Pol Pot killed an estimated 2 million in Cambodia, Mr. Dershowitz said, to Washington Free Beacon. He’s also met with Hamas and “encouraged terrorism and violence” by that group, Mr. Dershowitz added.
“[Carter is] a terrible, terrible choice,” he said.
Those opposing Mr. Carter’s nomination have come together as one, with the tagline of “Shame on Cardoza,” to hold accountable the decision-makers, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
