A new festival celebrating science, curiosity and discovery has opened in Dublin.
The Festival of Curiosity will feature more than 70 events over the next three days.
The festival will see a range of free daytime events for families and children, as well as an evening programme of interactive science debates, discussions and shows.
Smock Alley Theatre will play host to the Curiosity Carnival, a hands on adventure in science, play and curious technology for young people.
There will also be a Science in the City treasure hunt, live performances, theatre, art and science workshops for children, walking tours and more.
In the evening a series of interactive shows will see curious minds from around the world tell tales of science.
The organisers decided to establish an annual science festival in the capital following the success of last year's Dublin City of Science and the Euroscience Open Forum.
Those initiatives saw 600,000 people take part in science related events.
The not-for-profit festival is supported by Science Foundation Ireland, Dublin City Council, The RDS, Bayer and Matheson.
