A disabled man just trying to do his job at a metro parking lot was attacked and left unconscious. Police say his attacker took off with an empty wallet.

Troy Conn tells Fox 25 he was blowing leaves in the Zodiac Club parking lot off MacArthur Blvd. when someone came out of this corner and attacked him completely unprovoked.

"I was bothering nobody doing my job," said Conn. "He threw me down on the ground and started kicking at my head."

Five days later, Conn still has a few bruises. His wrist is still swollen and his wounds are still fresh. His jaw was fractured.

"I was scared to death," said Conn. "I thought he was going to kill me right there."

Conn has owned his lawn care business for over 40 years and this has never happened to him before. Police say it was 26 year old Marcus Carter who attacked Conn. A witness saw him attack Conn from behind and then look through his wallet for money. Conn didn't have any money in his wallet.

"It hurts my feelings to know that they do this sort of thing and they you know pick on disabled people," said Conn.

Conn, who already uses a cane, was knocked unconscious in the attack. He didn't wake up until he was in a hospital bed.

"If I could ever find the witness that came forward and called 911 I would be eternally grateful to them," said Conn.

Fox 25 was able to get the witness' phone number. Conn gave him a call to thank him.

Court documents reveal Marcus Carter admitted to the attack but when asked why he did it he simply answered "because he can." Carter is now facing two charges, a robbery in the first degree charge and an aggravated assault and battery charge.
