Man charged over alleged sex assault of intellectually disabled men

A man has been charged over alleged sexual offences against three intellectually disabled men over the past three years.

NSW Police arrested a 37-year-old man in Taree on Tuesday. An investigation was launched in 2013 into the allegations made against the man.

The offences occurred in the Taree area, on the NSW mid-north coast, since 2011.

The man was charged with seven counts of having sexual intercourse with a person with a cognitive impairment and six counts of aggravated sexual assault on a victim with cognitive impairment.

The man was refused bail on Tuesday, and will appear in Forster Local Court on Wednesday.

Police are continuing to investigate the allegations, and are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
