Teacher ‘sprayed alcohol in the faces’ of crying special needs kids at Hong Kong school

A special needs teacher has denied spraying mentally disabled children in the face with alcohol, despite the existence of a video seeming to show her doing exactly that.

Leung Pui-ki, 48, pleaded not guilty to 15 counts of assault at a Tuen Mun court on Wednesday, according to Ming Pao Daily (as translated by EJI).

A 10-minute video was played in the court room that seemed to show Leung shouting “You look ugly crying!” and “Let me sterilise the moisture in the air” while spraying liquid into the face of a crying student at a special needs primary school run by the Po Leung Kuk group.

One student in the video, whose parents claim has the mental age of a six-month-old baby, is seen to be sprayed four times as he holds his head down and tries to leave his seat. Leung then appeared to spray the boy several times more, just for good measure.

The teacher, who has since resigned but now works at another school, you’ll be pleased to know, is accused of spraying seven children between the ages of six and seven during the 2013-2014 school year.

She denies the charges and claims she only ever directed the 70 percent alcohol spray at the children’s hands.

The trial continues.
