Police Blotter: Feb. 27-Mar. 5

Here is a list of the crimes reported to the Hyattsville Police Department for this time frame.

Feb. 27

At the 7600 block of Adelphi Road, sometime since Feb. 25, someone broke out the driver’s side rear window of a vehicle parked in this area.

At the 5600 block of 30th Avenue, about 12:30 a.m., a victim was robbed at gunpoint by two unknown suspects as he walked in this area.

At the 2700 block of Kirkwood Place, about 5:30 a.m., an unknown suspect broke into an apartment in this area, displayed a knife to two victims in the apartment and demanded cash. Before fleeing, the suspect attempted to rape one of the victims, but fled when she screamed.

Feb. 28

At Hyattsville Elementary School: sometime since Feb. 25, someone spray painted graffiti on a door to the school.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 11 a.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

March 1

At the 5700 block of 29th Avenue, about 8 a.m., an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle at gunpoint from in front of the victim’s home.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 2 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 5:30 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

March 2

At the 5700 block of 42nd Avenue, sometime between 6 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., someone broke into a coin-operated washing machine in the laundry room of an apartment building in this area and removed the quarters.

At the 3600 block of East West Highway, about 1:30 p.m., an unknown suspect stole a cell phone from a store in this area and fled toward the Metro station.

March 3

At the 6000 block of 42nd Avenue, sometime during the night, someone stole a 2006 GMC Envoy that had been parked in this area. It was recovered in Baltimore later in the day.

At the 5700 block of 29th Avenue, about 1:15 a.m., a victim heard someone start his vehicle. When he looked outside, he saw that an unknown suspect was leaving in his 1996 Honda Civic. It was recovered in New Carrollton the following day.

At the 5700 block of 29th Avenue, about 6:15 a.m., an unknown suspect was attempting to enter an apartment in this area through a window. When the victim yelled to them, they fled in an unknown direction.

At the 4300 block of Oliver Street, sometime between 8 a.m. and 8:45 p.m., someone broke into a residence in this area and removed property. In addition, several windows were broken throughout the house.

At the 5600 block of Hamilton Manor Drive, sometime between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m., someone stole a 1998 Acura Integra that had been parked in this area. It was recovered in Beltsville the following day.

At the 3500 block of Hamilton Street, about 2 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a grocery store in this area. It was also found that he had an open warrant through the Montgomery County Police.

At the 4400 block of Oglethorpe Street, sometime between 3 and 9 p.m., someone broke out the rear window of a vehicle parked in this area.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 5:15 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 7 p.m., two suspects were arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

At the 3600 block of Oliver Street, about 8:45 p.m., an unknown suspect broke into a residence in this area by forcing open the front door. When confronted by the victim, the suspect fled.

March 4

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 8:45 a.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 12:15 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

At the 3900 block of Oneida Place, about 5:15 p.m., two suspects were arrested after they vandalized several vehicles parked in this area.

March 5           

At the 2600 block of Kirkwood Place, about 1:15 a.m., while walking to his apartment a victim was approached by an unknown suspect armed with a handgun who demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle. The victim screamed and ran, but fell. Then the suspect grabbed the victim’s keys and stole his 1998 Honda Accord. It was recovered in Washington, D.C. later in the day.

At the 3300 block of Manorwood Drive, sometime between 2:15 and 7 a.m., someone broke into a vehicle parked in this area and removed property.

At the 5800 block of 33rd Place, sometime between 3:30 and 6:30 a.m., someone broke into a vehicle parked in this area and removed property.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 11:15 a.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.

At the Mall at Prince George’s, about 4 p.m., a suspect was arrested for shoplifting from a store inside.
