Buh Bye SkylineCowboy.com - "This Site Has Been Suspended" - Updated |

This is for historians, in case any of them wonder who was behind the scurrilous smear campaign that showed up on SkylineCowboy.com: if you visit today, you get redirected to a WebHost4Life message that says the site has been "suspended". I guess somebody didn't pay his bills. The url of the redirection is http://www.webhost4life.com/templates/lightsOut.bml?lightsoutuser=cattleback
Cattleback. The name of the subsidiary that SCO created and transferred a patent to and then sold off in 2007 was, if you recall, Cattleback Holdings. And Darl McBride was alleged to be calling himself "Skyline Cowboy" on that site in litigation about the smear campaign and the "loan" McBride said he made to Mark Robbins, plus lots more, that ended up tossed out of court on a technicality. And here the web host says the user behind SkylineCowboy.com used the nym "cattleback". Just another breadcrumb in what was a really awful chapter of this loathsome saga.
Here's the redirect message:
This site has been suspended
If you manage this site and have a question about why the site is not available, please contact WebHost4Life directly.
If you would like to contact the owner of this site, please fill out the field below and click "Send Message".
That will be the day. I was one of the targets of SkylineCowboy.com. Here's a screenshot:
I don't know if you can read it, since the text is so small, but on the lower left, notice in the url that the site titles this page /WebControl/pastduesplash.html so I would posit that this is the problem. My word. What is it with SCOfolk and paying bills? Someone needs to arrange an intervention.
No headlines about "PJ uses IE", please. I didn't take the screenshot. I'm just sharing it with you.
: ) Update: Here's an article in the Salt Lake City News, May 2013, where Darl McBride admits to setting up the website, to his shame, not that he notices.

Perhaps Darl was confused by the name of the hosting company, WebHost4Life, and
didn't realise that he still needed to keep paying the service charges![ Reply to This | # ]

I'd say that the Skyline Cowboy has finally come to the
realization that the beelyons and beelyons of dollhairs that they
were all expecting out of the SCO fiasco just aren't going to
materialize, and has moved on with life. One has to wonder what
took so bloody long for reality to finally sink in. Good riddance
to bad rubbish.[ Reply to This | # ]

A nym "SkylineCowboy" wrote glowing reviews of the Me Inc iPhone app FCTasks in
February and September 2009 on the Apple iTune web store.
In December 2010,
the SkylineCowboy nym vanished, and the old posts were attributed to "Darl
McBride". This behavoir (tested) results when a User ID changes it personal
information, as the database key used for the nym updates all instances.
The
FCTasks and FCGoals apps have since (Jan 2011) been deleted from the iTunes
store
The fundamental piece of identification remains the trademark
application Kevin McBride prepared and abandoned.
Darl's Facebook page
briefly had pictures and comments regarding his "hot" car- a Nissan Skyline
(black), the love of his life.
While I don't believe the foreclosure auction
on his home went forward in October 2010, realty tracking sites report that the
McBride home is property tax arrears for 2010.

I use the Windows logo, on my Linux desktop instead of the BIG ugly K of KDE! I
also use a Win7 look-a-like theme. Why? To make non-Linux-users comfortable when
they use this desktop.
And, they go nuts over the wobbly windows! "I want that too!" And I go
"Sorry, but it doesn't work on your system." But, since you surf and
do some word processing, I can help you out...
