US Dairy Export Council

The U.S. Dairy Export Council launched two global and mobile websites over the weekend. A public announcement is scheduled for Thursday but USDEC is giving members a primer today.

A thoroughly redesigned usdec.org will continue to serve USDEC members and the broader U.S. dairy industry with the practical tools and information they have relied upon for years, such as the USDEC Export Guide. In addition, the site offers several new features, including interactive market data, more accessible research and “The U.S. Dairy Exporter Blog.”

The new ThinkUSAdairy.org is designed for the unique needs of global buyers, foodservice professionals as well as food and beverage manufacturers. It replaces the domestic-focused InnovateWithDairy.com and shares in-depth knowledge of the U.S. dairy industry and its broad portfolio of multifunctional ingredients

TwoAudiences-web"The United States has become a premier global supplier of dairy products and ingredients and these two websites reflect the impressive growth, extended reach and increasing sophistication of our more than 100 member companies,” said Tom Suber, president of USDEC. “Our members and their customers will get a more global and mobile digital experience.”

New tools to help you do your job

 New features of usdec.org include:

  • Interactive charts, enabling members to drill deep into trade and market data.
  • Faster and more visual access to USDEC research reports, providing actionable insights so you can make more informed business decisions.
  • "The U.S. Dairy Exporter blog,” dispensing market analysis, research and news at the speed of global business. Subscribe and you get updates in your inbox.
  • Find a Staff Expert, giving members-only access to biographies of USDEC staffers. Each bio presents the staffer’s photo and areas of expertise so members can quickly identify the expert they need.

The customer-focused ThinkUSAdairy.org provides:

  • Nutrition insights detailing benefits of dairy in meeting consumer needs.
  • Hundreds of recipes and formulations to help stimulate application ideas.
  • A searchable database identifying U.S. suppliers with the dairy products global customers are looking for.
  • Product information, technical materials, marketing trends and video content.

Based on extensive research

The two sites have been in the works for more than a year, and were shaped by extensive research of USDEC members and global customers. For example, more than a dozen USDEC members took a “test drive” of the redesigned usdec.org to help USDEC determine how easy or difficult it was to navigate the proposed site. Several member suggestions were implemented.

When members were asked by the testing agency to rank the new site on a scale of 1 to 10, the average score was 9.4. Comments included, “looks fresh,” “modern feel” and “I’m finding things easier than on the old site.” If you have feedback or suggestions for the redesigned usdec.org, send them to Mark O’Keefe at mokeefe@usdec.org.

With mobile usage rapidly expanding in key U.S. markets such as Mexico, China, Korea, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, it was important to have both websites seamlessly adapt to any device, whether a personal computer, tablet or smartphone. This has been accomplished with a new content management system utilizing "responsive design" technology.

The launch of the sites marks the first phase of a multi-year digital outreach plan. To further showcase U.S. dairy internationally, customer-focused microsites are planned for multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese and Arabic.

Tips on logging in

Whenever a new site launches, there can be confusion and technical difficulties about logging in.

You can make your transition easier with these tips:

  • Be prepared to type in your username and password the first time you login to the new usdec.org site (some browsers may remember this information for you).
  • If you don’t have your login information, don’t fret. On the top of any page, click “Member Login.” Then click the “forgot password” link. You will be sent an email with instructions on how to reset your username and password.
  • When you login for the first time, put a checkmark on the “remember me” box. The system will remember you next time and you won’t need to type in your login information.
  • If you have any issues about logging in, or any other technical difficulties, don't hesitate to contact Danny Ingram at dingram@usdec.org or Clemente Santiago at csantiago@usdec.org.

These sites were built to meet the needs of USDEC members and their global customers. Check out the global and mobile usdec.org and ThinkUSAdairy.org.
