Discussed the use of URL shorteners to make long website addresses easier to manage and share. This can be especially useful when trying to get a whole class of easily distracted and typing challenged students onto the same website. Many times these websites can have very long and complicated URL's.
These tools will allow you to shorten a long web address into a more manageable link to share with others. The first two will also let you customize the link to make it even easier to remember and share:
1. IS.GD - Super simple. Paste the long URL into the text box and click shorten or you can customize to a name that you want (without creating an account). This tool will also give you a QR code that can be saved to your computer. The example below shortened this URL: https://sites.google.com/a/ware.k12.ga.us/wareteacher/ as well as creating a QR code.

2. J.MP - This is known as a jump site. Easily shortens URL's and if you create a free account you can customize them as well. This is part of the Bitly shortening service.
Other shorteners that work well:
3. GOO.GL - from Google.
4. BIT.LY - Similar to #2 above.
There are many others to choose from but these are some of the better ones.
