SACRAMENTO COUNTY—

Deputies arrested a man suspected of child endangerment late Friday night after witnesses reported seeing him assault his daughter.

A woman called authorities just before 11:30 p.m. after seeing a man walking with a teenage girl, who looked mentally disabled, near Markston Road and Arden Way. The man was allegedly assaulting the girl, although not viciously.

Once deputies showed up at the scene, they found that the 17-year-old girl was locked in a car at the apartment complex.

Deputies tried to get her to unlock the doors, but found that the girl probably had mental issues as she couldn’t understand their commands.

Eventually, fire crews had to be called to come help get the girl out of the car.

Once out the car, however, authorities found that the girl had marks on her wrists, suggesting that she had been restrained.

Authorities identified the man suspected of assaulting her as her father, 53-year-old Brett Scott Holdaway. He was arrested for child endangerment charges, while the girl was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. She has since been placed under CPS custody.
