Businessman jailed for raping handicapped woman

A prominent Waikato businessman has been jailed for 10 years for the rape and indecent assault of a intellectually handicapped woman. 

The man -- who has name suppression -- was sentenced this morning at the Hamilton District Court after being found guilty in July of rape, unlawful sexual connection and indecent assault, The Waikato Times reported. 

His victim, who was 19 at the time of the offending, has a mental age of between 6 and 10. 

The man's name is to remain suppressed due to charges in relation to another alleged victim.
