HIGH POINT, N.C. — Funeral arrangements have been set for Spc. Liperial “Savon” Easterling, the soldier from High Point who was shot and killed outside his Tennessee home on Sunday.

Phillips Funeral Service of High Point will handle the arrangements.

Easterling’s remains were transported from Tennessee to High Point on Friday evening.

The viewing and visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Service, located at 1810 Brockett Ave., High Point, on Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Greater Hope Baptist Church, located at 906 Meredith St. in High Point.

Easterling, a High Point native assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, was shot as he approached his home in Clarksville shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Easterling’s death was ruled a homicide by Clarksville police. Two suspects have been identified.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case.

On Friday night, friends and family members in Easterling’s old neighborhood gathered to remember their friend. The group lit candles, said a prayer and many people cried over the loss.

They chose the corner of Gavin Drive and Kent Street because that’s where Easterling’s aunt lived and many of the kids from the neighborhood would hang out there.

His cousin, Lekeisha Bethany, said every time he returned home he would talk about his time in the Army with pride.

“His dream was to travel overseas and represent the U.S. proudly,” said Bethany.

Anyone with information about Easterling’s death is asked to call Clarksville police CrimeStoppers at (931) 645-8477.
