A rock slide near the Roza Dam closed State Route 821 through the Yakima River Canyon for much of the day Saturday.
The closure started about 5 a.m. and ended about 3:15 p.m.
Crews had initially hoped to open the route about 2 p.m., but needed more time to work, the state Department of Transportation said. Rocks were still falling several hours after the initial report, DOT said.
A wedding at the Canyon River Ranch, part of the same complex as Red’s Fly Shop, was able to continue because guests were allowed past barricades on the Ellensburg side, said bridesmaid Chelsea Fork.
“Thankfully, the lodge had room for the bridal party to stay the entire weekend,” she said in a Facebook message.
