Barberton man accused of robbing man with developmental disabilities

Barberton police investigated the robbery of a 24-year-old man with developmental disabilities.

BARBERTON, Ohio — A warrant was issued for a Barberton man accused of attacking and robbing a man with developmental disabilities.

Jerry Mitchell, 28, of Barberton, faces a second-degree felony robbery charge in Barberton Municipal Court.

Barberton police said the 24-year-old man with developmental disabilities went to his friend's apartment on Sunday.

Mitchell, a friend of the 24-year-old man's friend, came to the apartment and attacked the 24-year-old man about 7:30 p.m., police said.

Police said Mitchell then stole the man's laptop computer and $30.

The 24-year-old man suffered minor injuries that didn't require medical treatment, police said.
