Make keyword research a priority

Sure, you can apply all kinds of on-page techniques to make your content more visible on Google. But, if you aren’t targeting the right keywords, you’re just wasting your time!

It’s crucial that any SEO strategy involves some time investment in keyword research. After all; if you use the wrong keywords, you could end up targeting the wrong audience. Or, worst still, you might end up with no visitors at all!

One of my favorite tools to use is Keyword Canine. It’s an essential piece of software that any SEO newbie or expert should use. With it, you can learn more about what people are searching for and the sites they visit.

Is your content worth reading?

Even if you have an impressive SEO campaign, no-one will stay on a website with bad content! There will be some sections of your site, such as your blog or news pages, that get updated on a frequent basis. You need to ensure both that and the other pages on your site offer content that packs a punch.

In a nutshell, you need to impress your readers. Think about similar sites in your niche that you like to visit. What impresses you about them? The answer will be engaging content. You know; the type of content that you’d share with your friends on Facebook.

Ensure your on-page SEO techniques are up to scratch

There are many things you can do to improve your site’s SEO. If you use WordPress on your website, did you know you can use many SEO plugins to help you? My favorites are “WordPress SEO” and the “All-In-One SEO Pack.”

You can automate some processes with such plugins, like the generation of XML sitemaps. Those plugins can even warn you if your on-page SEO needs attention. They are both time-savers and assets to your website.

Work on your link building campaign

Having dynamite content on your site is only part of the battle. You need to get other sites to interact with yours in some way. For example, you could offer to write guest posts on their blogs in exchange for a relevant link to your site.

You might even ask them to review your products if you send them a sample to try out. There are many different ways to work on your link building campaign. Make sure you don’t ignore this vital part of your SEO strategy.

Good luck!
