A MAN who is facing allegations of beating up his friend in a Weymouth flat ‘lost it’ when the victim ‘took advantage of a vulnerable adult’, a court has heard.
Dominic Weavis, 40, denies causing Adrian Harper grievous bodily harm with intent, although he admits inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Emma Goodall, 41, of Ranelagh Road, Weymouth, denies both charges.
On day two of a trial at Dorchester Crown Court, Weavis, also of Ranelagh Road, told the jury that he had visited Goodall’s flat with Mr Harper on June 14 this year, after all three had spent the day drinking.
He said: “Adrian had taken belongings off her, a wallet and mobile phone, which infuriated me because she’s a vulnerable adult and she has learning difficulties.
“I did not mean to cause any damage but I lost my temper.”
Goodall continued the assault by hitting him with a glass bottle, the court heard.
Weavis said after the attack he and Goodall had sexual intercourse, while Mr Harper lay on the sofa.
The defendant denied threatening to kill or torture Mr Harper, and said he called an ambulance in the morning when he realised the extent of the injuries.
Goodall denied using the bottle as a weapon.
The jury is expected to retire today to consider its verdict.
