A spokesman for the Sacramento City Unified School District said the boy is a student at John Cabrillo Elementary School in the South Land Park neighborhood. The incident happened Monday.

Spokesman Gabe Ross told KCRA 3 the boy boarded a van-style bus with 16-20 seats and apparently fell asleep during the ride.

Ross said the driver missed the boy's stop and returned to the transportation yard in the Tahoe Park neighborhood.
