Ann Arbor's only Frank Lloyd Wright home sold for $900,000

The Palmer House, designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright, has been sold to a Bay Area family.

The only home built by groundbreaking architect Frank Lloyd Wright in Ann Arbor recently sold after seven months on the market.

Bob Eckstein, an agent with Edward Surovell Realtors, said a Bay Area couple purchased the Palmer House for $900,000.

The purchaser, Jeff Schox, is an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan, but spends much of his time in the Bay Area because he also teaches part time at Stanford, Eckstein said.
The buyer plans to open the home as a guest house for parts of the year, he said.

The 2,000-square-foot home built in 1951 was originally listed for $1.5 million in August. The asking price was dropped to $1.25 million, and again to $985,000.

Eckstein also said a piano that was in the home was purchased by the musician Ben Folds and may be used on his next album.
