In a mere two months, on June 16, the Noisebridge Hackerspace in San Francisco’s Mission district will be hosting KinkForAll San Francisco 2 (KFASF2), the tenth event of its kind, empowering everyone with an interest in challenging the status quo regarding sexuality information and its distribution to share knowledge directly with neighbors and peers.

I’m really excited about it for a whole slew of reasons. Among them is the fact that I’ve been wanting to involve more technologists, hackers, Makers, and generally awesome do-ers from that cultural sphere ever since the KinkForAll project began early in 2009, and hosting the event in a hackerspace seems a great way to do this.

That being said, diversity isn’t just “very important” to KinkForAll, its presence or absence actually makes or breaks the events. In other words, you matter. You really do.

That means we also need your help. With the free, all-ages, and open to the public venue in place, KFASF2 “unorganizers” in the Bay Area have begun working on getting the word out. They've put together this promotional KFASF2 flyer. We’d love your help blanketing the Bay Area with these flyers, so if you’re local, you can help by printing them out and posting them on pin boards across your neighborhood, in bars, cafés, community centers, libraries, and anywhere else you think is a good idea.

Regardless of where you’re based, unorganizers have also written email templates to make it easy to tell your friends as well as to tell organizations about KinkForAll San Francisco 2, begun tweeting, and set up a KFASF2 Facebook event, so you can share the event with your friends there. Of course, there’s even more in the works, so be sure to subscribe to the KinkForAll mailing list if you’re interested in staying on top of the latest developments.

If you do plan to participate in person, please sign up on the wiki page so unorganizers can get an early estimate of a headcount. Plus, that’s where people are already sharing ideas for possible sessions, with topics ranging from asexuality to “custom relationship design” and a whole lot more.

I hope to make it (it’s already on my current travel itinerary) and I hope you can, too!

And now, for serious, I’ll stop procrastinating and finish my damn taxes.
