Lufkin PD: Man sexually assaulted, impregnated mentally disabled woman
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police officers arrested a 28-year-old man on Wednesday in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a mentally disabled woman in 2013, causing her to become pregnant.
Jacoby James Simpson, of Lufkin, is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault charge and a second-degree felony prohibited sexual contact charge. No bail amounts have been set on his charges yet.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim's mother made an outcry to Adult Protective Services on March 17 and said that someone had sexually assaulted her daughter.
The woman told authorities that after her daughter started showing signs of being sick, she took her daughter to the doctor, the press release stated. The doctor told the victim's mother that her daughter was pregnant and had been for several months.
According to the affidavit, the victim's mother said her daughter is mentally disabled and is unable to give consent to have sex with anyone.
Further investigation by Lufkin Police Department detectives resulted in numerous possible suspects in the alleged assault. The detectives obtained DNA samples from the possible suspect, the victim, and the baby she had just delivered.
When the paternity test results came back from the lab, they revealed that Simpson was the father of the victim's child.
LPD detectives obtained a warrant for Simpson's arrest on Oct. 14.
