HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office arrested a 43-year-old man on Monday in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted a mentally challenged 15-year-old girl sometime between May 15 and June 1.

Michael Wayne Gibson is still being held in the Angelina County jail on a first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child charge. No bail has been set at this time.

According to the arrest affidavit, the girl's mother made the initial outcry to the Hudson Police Department after the victim told her mother that Gibson had sexually assaulted her. Later, the girl was brought to Harold's House in Lufkin for a forensic interview.

The victim and her mother both told the forensic interview that the girl is mentally challenged and is at the level of a 10-year-old instead of 15.
