About this ebook

This book, the first in a series of three, tells the stories behind some of the most glamorous and alluring vehicles of the fifties, sixties, and seventies--the Grand Tourers. Since the arrival of the Lancia Aurelia B20 GT in 1953, manufacturers have competed--with both popular culture and each other--to find that perfect balance of luxury, accommodation, and sporting ability.

About the author

Sam Dawson has been a devoted fan of classic cars in general for as long as he can remember. He sees it as inevitable that he would one day turn his enthusiasm and writing skills to writing a book on the subject. Always fascinated by the glamorous eras of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s, and coming from a politics/sociological background academically, he chose the Grand Turismo machines as his subject, approaching it from a cultural as well as a technical perspective.
