LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A woman missing for a week has been found dead in Shively, canceling the Golden Alert issued by Louisville police for 47-year-old Patricia Thompson.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Scott Russ confirmed a body found around 10:30 Saturday morning was that of Patricia Thompson. Thompson went missing last Sunday along the 3200 block of Welman Drive. Her body was discovered in a field behind 2619 Benoch Avenue, just about two miles away from Welman.

Crews had been searching all week for Thompson, who had mental disabilities, since she left a home where she was under 24-hour watch. Around 20 people had been searching for her and following up leads.

Saturday evening at a vigil for Thompson a few dozen people were very emotional as they remembered a woman they describe as vibrant and full of life.

"Once they told me they had found the body, I just went silent and we instantly came out here to support her current worker and everybody who's on the team right now," said P.J. Ray, who had known Thompson since 2011. "She loved to dance. She loved Cokes. She loved McDonald's. She was just a wonderful person."

There is no foul play suspected. The cause and manner of death is pending final autopsy report and toxicology.
