QUINCY — A Quincy man who was ordered earlier this month to stop giving injections for breast and buttocks augmentation has been arrested on suspicion of six counts of practicing medicine without a license, a felony.
Police found Mario Palafox Valle, 32, hiding in a closet during a search of his home.
“Based on the investigation, it is believed there may be more victims that have received these injections,” police said in a news release Thursday.
Detective Paul Snyder, who wrote the press release, could not be reached for comment. The press release did not say how many victims police believe are connected to the six counts, what day the search warrant was served or when Palafox Valle was arrested.
Earlier this month, the state Department of Health issued a “Notice of Intent to Issue Cease and Desist Order” to Palafox Valle. In a Nov. 9 press release, they accused the man, who has no health care credentials, of giving a woman injections for breast and buttocks augmentation. The woman had to undergo corrective surgery as a result of the injections, according to the state Department of Health.
State health officials allege that Palafox-Valle administered injections for cosmetic enhancement. Officials say that, between June 2011 and June 2012, Palafox Valle injected a patient with an unknown substance on three occasions to augment her breasts and buttocks.
Palafox Valle was booked into the Grant County Jail following the search of his residence.
The patient, who contacted health officials, was told the injections were made of Perlutan, which contains estrogen; saline, silicone, and cuerpo amarillo, which is a hormone product some people use in an effort to become pregnant.
Only appropriately licensed health care professionals are allowed to administer such injections in the state. Palafox-Valle is not a licensed health-care provider in Washington, state officials said.
Anyone who may have been injected by Palafox Valle is asked to contact the Quincy Police Department at 787-4718. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call 787-8477.
