HADLEY - The 57-year-old Agawam mother who allegedly used her daughter with Down syndrome to carry out a larceny at Target in November has been identified as Pamela Meyer.

Meyer is facing a larceny over $250 charge stemming from a Nov. 21 incident at the store, according to Hadley police.

A warrant had been issued last month.

A customer observed what appeared to be a theft and loss prevention investigated and found that suspect and accomplices - who are being investigated - had used her 25-year-old daughter with Down syndrome to carry out the crime, according to the Hadley Police Facebook posting.

"Target security reviewed surveillance video and observed the subjects place several toy items into the shopping cart and leave the daughter near an empty check out lane.

Another accomplice appeared to have signaled her to exit the store when there were no employees in the area."

She has been scheduled for a pre-trial conference Jan. 27 in Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown.

Meyer, and her son, Douglas Walters, 29, of East Longmeadow, meanwhile, were arrested Nov. 22 after they allegedly stole several video games, Lego sets and a Dyson vacuum from Target in South Windsor, according to the NBC Connecticut Website.

Both were charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree and interfering with an officer and later released on a $5,000 non-surety bond, according to the story.
