Apple Inc., maker of the iPhone and iPad, along with rivals HTC Corp. and Research In Motion Ltd., was sued by patent holder St. Clair Intellectual Property Consultants for alleged infringement of six U.S. patents for computer-function management.

St. Clair, of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, contends Cupertino, California-based Apple, Taiwan’s HTC, and Canada’s Research In Motion are using the protected inventions in their smartphones and tablets without permission. The suit was filed yesterday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware.
